8th Grade Girls off & RunningIn just three tournament outings the 8th Grade Galaxy Girls are off to a tremendous 13-1 start. They have won three of the four tournaments they entered finishing second in the other while playing in the 9th /10th Grade division of that tournament.
The young ladies are a very talented group that has high expectations placed on it by Galaxy President Rodney Westmoreland. The young ladies are scheduled to play in 3 more tournaments during April and May and will host their own tournament on June 9, 2012 here in Greensboro. |
6th Grade Girls WinThis upstart team Coached by Keisha Miles and Samar Johnson played their first tournament ever. Saturday April 7 in WInston-Salem. Despite only having 5 players suited up for the tournament they finished undefeated in their 2 games.
The young ladies represented the Galaxy organization well playing hard end to end defense the whole way. They won their 1st game 15-12 and won the 2nd even more convincingly 21-11. For the tournament the ladies were led by Candace Smith who averaged 6 points a game and Jessica Waller who averaged 5 points a game, Seqouyah Johnson averaged 4 points a game, Abby Griffin set the tone defensively averaging 5 steals a game and Marquita Wingfield averaged 9.5 rebounds per game. The 6th grade team will be back in action on April 28, 2012. They will also be playing at home on June 9, 2012. |
7th Grade Girls Place 2ndThe Greensboro Galaxy 7th Grade Girls team coached by Kim Fonville finished second at the UASBA Tournament held in Greensboro over the April 14-15 weekend.
